How to remove the Gemini watermark from an image

  1. 1

    Save the original image

In the Gemini app or on gemini.google.com, open the image and use Download to save the full-size file. A screenshot or a copy pasted from chat is smaller and can blur the sparkle, which makes it harder to remove cleanly.

  2. 2

    Drop it here

Drop one image or a whole folder’s worth onto the box above, or click it to choose. Each image is cleaned the moment it arrives, on your own device, in well under a second for most.

  3. 3

    Check and download

Compare the corner before and after, then download each image, or all of them at once as a ZIP. PNG files stay lossless PNG; JPG and WebP are saved back in their own format at high quality.

What the Gemini watermark is

Every image the Gemini app makes, including those from its Nano Banana image models, carries a small four-point sparkle in the bottom-right corner: Gemini’s logo, laid over the picture in semi-transparent white. It is a label that says the image was made with Google AI, separate from SynthID, the invisible watermark Google also hides in the pixels.

The sparkle has not always looked the same or sat in the same spot. Gemini has changed its size, its distance from the edges and how strongly it is drawn several times, which is why a remover that assumes one fixed position leaves some images untouched or smudged. These are the layouts this tool was tested on:

Where Gemini places the sparkle
ImagesSparkleFrom the right and bottom edges
1K images, up to 1024px on a side48 × 48px32px
Larger images, both sides over 1024px96 × 96px64px
Many 1K images since mid-202648 × 48px, fainter96px
2K images since May 202696 × 96px, fainter with a brighter rim192px
Resized or re-saved copiesAny size in betweenIn proportion

Rather than guess from the image size, the tool searches the corner for the sparkle’s outline at every size and distance, pins it down to a fraction of a pixel, and measures how strongly it was drawn, so the next change Gemini makes is likely to be covered too.

How the removal works

Gemini blends the sparkle into the image with a fixed formula: each pixel under it becomes a mix of white and the original colour, weighted by how opaque the sparkle is at that point. The sparkle’s opacity map is known exactly, captured by drawing it over pure black, so the formula can be run backwards. That recovers the original colour of every pixel under the sparkle, a technique called reverse alpha blending.

Nothing is painted over or invented by AI. Pixels outside the sparkle are not touched at all, and inside it the colours come back from the image itself, so textures like grass, skin or fabric keep their real detail.

  • Pixels that were already pure white under the sparkle stay white: there is nothing left to recover there, and none is needed.
  • JPG files and resized copies have lost a little detail, so the outline can very occasionally leave a faint trace. The original PNG from Gemini always comes out cleanest.
  • Only the Gemini sparkle is removed. Text, logos or other marks you or another app added are left alone.

Can’t you just turn the watermark off in Gemini?

Partly. Since August 2026 the Gemini web app has a Media Watermark switch under Settings that stops the visible sparkle on new images, videos and music. It only applies to what you make after you switch it off, and SynthID stays either way.

It does not cover everything. Images you made before keep their sparkle. The switch has not reached every phone app. In India, South Korea and Vietnam only Google AI Ultra subscribers get it. And some users report that with the watermark off, Gemini hands over a JPG instead of the full-quality PNG. Keeping the watermark on, downloading the PNG and removing the sparkle here keeps the best file.

Nano Banana watermark remover

Nano Banana is the name of Gemini’s image generation and editing model, and its newer versions go by Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2. Images made with any of them in the Gemini app carry the same sparkle, so this page removes the Nano Banana watermark too: drop the image in and download it clean. Images made through the Gemini API or Google AI Studio usually have no visible sparkle at all, only SynthID.

The visible sparkle, not SynthID

Gemini images carry two watermarks. The sparkle is the one you can see. SynthID is an invisible pattern spread through the whole image that Google’s tools can read even after the image is cropped, resized or compressed.

This tool removes the sparkle only. It does not remove, weaken or test for SynthID, and it is not meant to: Google’s SynthID Detector and the Gemini app can still tell that a cleaned image was made with Google AI. Removing the sparkle does not make an AI image a photo, so label it as AI-generated wherever that is expected.

Use it responsibly

  • Clean only images you made yourself or have permission to edit.
  • Using Gemini is subject to Google’s terms. Check them before you publish edited images.
  • Label AI images as AI where the law asks for it, as the EU AI Act does, and where platforms such as Instagram, TikTok or YouTube ask you to.
  • Do not use clean images to pass AI pictures off as real photos of real people or events.

Gemini watermark remover FAQ

Is it possible to remove the Gemini watermark?

Yes. Gemini draws its sparkle over the picture with a fixed, known formula, so it can be run backwards to get back the pixels under it. This page does that in your browser, for free, on images from Gemini and Nano Banana.

How do I remove the Gemini watermark from an image?

Download the image from Gemini as the original file, then drop it onto this page. The tool finds the sparkle in the bottom-right corner, recovers the pixels under it and gives you the same image without it. Download it on its own, or download several at once as a ZIP.

Is this Gemini watermark remover free?

Yes. It is free, with no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark of our own added. It costs us nothing to run because the work happens on your device.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The images are opened, cleaned and saved by your own browser. They are never sent to our servers or anyone else’s, and closing the tab clears them.

Does it work on Nano Banana, Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 images?

Yes. Those are Gemini’s image models, and the images they make in the Gemini app carry the same sparkle, at any of the sizes and positions Gemini has used.

Does it remove SynthID?

No. It removes only the visible sparkle. SynthID, Google’s invisible watermark, stays in the image, and Google’s tools can still identify the image as made with AI.

Will the image lose quality?

No. Only the pixels under the sparkle change, and they are recovered from the image itself rather than painted over, so the size, sharpness and colours stay as they were. PNG images are saved losslessly; JPG and WebP are saved back in their own format at high quality.

Can I remove the watermark from many images at once?

Yes. Drop up to 50 images at a time, from a folder or a multiple selection. Each is cleaned as it arrives, and Download all packs the results into one ZIP file.

Which files can I use?

PNG, JPG and WebP images up to 30 MB each, at any resolution, portrait or landscape. The original file Gemini saved gives the cleanest result.

Can I remove the Gemini watermark with Photoshop, Canva or Google Photos?

You can paint over it with a healing brush, Magic Eraser or generative fill, but those tools guess what was underneath, and on grass, hair or text the guess often shows. This tool does not guess: it removes the exact sparkle Gemini added and keeps the real pixels below it.

Why was no watermark found in my image?

Either the image has no visible sparkle, which is the case for images from the Gemini API, Google AI Studio or made with the Media Watermark setting off, or the sparkle was cropped off, covered or heavily blurred in a screenshot or a compressed copy. Try the original download from Gemini.

Can I turn off the Gemini watermark?

For new images, often yes: on gemini.google.com go to Settings, then Media Watermark, and switch it off. In India, South Korea and Vietnam the switch is only there with Google AI Ultra, it does not change images you already made, and SynthID stays in either case. For everything the switch does not cover, use this page.

Does it work on Gemini or Veo videos?

No. This page is for images. Videos carry a different mark and need a video tool.

Is it legal to remove the Gemini watermark?

Use it only on images you made or have the rights to, and check Google’s terms for Gemini. Rules on labelling AI content vary: in the EU and on most social platforms you are expected to say when an image is AI-generated, sparkle or not.

Is Dolai part of Google?

No. Dolai is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Google.
