FLUX 3 Image Klein Online: Generate Images, Then Make Them Move
FLUX 3 Image Klein, or FLUX.3 Klein, is the small open-weight model Black Forest Labs released on October 15, 2026: 5.6B parameters, a built-in prompt expander and native 4K output. Type a short idea here and get a finished image, with no ComfyUI, no gated download and no GPU, then animate it in the same box.
- 5.6B open weights
- Prompt expansion built in
- 1K, 2K and native 4K
- Posters and infographics
- Runs locally from 8 GB (INT8)
- Image to video in one click
Sexually explicit (NSFW) content is strictly prohibited.
FLUX.3 Klein is selected. Every prompt is first expanded into a detailed caption, as Black Forest Labs recommends, so a short line is enough. Other image and video models are in the same list.
What is FLUX 3 Image Klein?
FLUX 3 Image Klein is the compact member of Black Forest Labs’ FLUX 3 family, released with open weights on October 15, 2026. One 5.6B image transformer does text to image, editing a single photo and composing from up to ten reference images, and it can place elements inside boxes you draw. It reads prompts through a Qwen3-VL 4B text encoder and decodes with the FLUX.2 VAE.
It is trained on long, detailed captions, so BFL ships it with “pup”, a 9B prompt expander that turns a short line into such a caption, and advises against running the model without it. Dolai keeps expansion on, which is why the one-line prompts in the examples below work.
BFL reports that Klein beats its 9B predecessor, FLUX.2 [klein], by 91 Elo on text to image and 70 on editing with 38% fewer parameters. Those are BFL’s own tests. Early users praise its posters, infographics and textures, and note that very small text can still come out wrong.

Macro photograph of a chunky knitted soft sculpture diorama, lit by a low, directional light source from the left that casts long, deep shadows across the textures. Filling the upper background is a dark indigo knitted backdrop. Across the lower third, a chaotic bed of thick looped yarn forms a churning sea. Rising from this base are three massive, conical icebergs constructed of stark white cable-knit yarn, positioned in a rhythmic frontal row: one on the left <iceberg_1>, a slightly taller one on the right <iceberg_2>, and a bulky central peak <iceberg_3>. Clinging to the slopes of the outer icebergs is a rhythmic repetition of tiny, identical pale blue knitted houses. Suspended in the upper frame between the peaks is a slightly curling strip of cream-colored stockinette fabric, bearing thick embroidered text <En_Text_1>. Disrupting the icy white and blue palette, a giant, vibrant magenta knitted whale tail <whale_tail_1> bursts vertically from the center of the teal sea, its thick ribbed surface covered in a halo of stray wool fibers illuminated by the raking light.

A flat front-facing finished art exhibition poster on warm ivory paper, all edges inside the frame. At lower right, a sculptural transparent cobalt glass arch beside a tangerine sphere with crisp shadows. Bold expressive typographic layout fills most of the page. Giant dramatic condensed high-contrast serif title in navy and vermilion reads "FORM & FEELING". Below, a flowing hand-lettered coral script reads "New ways of seeing". A clean aligned column in large readable type contains exactly these six lines: "DESIGN EXHIBITION", "12-28 NOVEMBER 2026", "THE GLASS HOUSE", "Objects, spaces and stories", "OPEN DAILY 10:00-19:00", "TICKETS AT THE DOOR". Footer line in clearly readable type: "CURATED BY STUDIO COMMON". Each listed phrase appears once. Only these exact words, no extra text, no tiny filler lettering. Deliberate asymmetric Swiss editorial grid, confident color, sculptural still life, expressive font contrast, refined art book design.

FLUX 3 Klein vs FLUX.2 Klein
FLUX.2 [klein] came out in January 2026. The new Klein is one smaller model that does more, under a stricter license.
| FLUX 3 Image Klein | FLUX.2 [klein] | |
|---|---|---|
| Released | October 15, 2026 | January 15, 2026 |
| Sizes | One, 5.6B | Two, 4B and 9B |
| Steps (distilled) | 16 | 4 |
| Prompt expansion | Built in, recommended | None; write long prompts |
| Reference images | Up to 10 | Multi-reference editing |
| Layout boxes | Yes | No |
| Resolution | Up to native 4K | About 1 to 4 megapixels |
| License | Free commercial use under US$5M annual revenue | 4B Apache 2.0; 9B non-commercial |
| On Dolai | Available | Not served |
Quality gains are from Black Forest Labs’ own tests. The license change matters for larger companies: FLUX.2 [klein] 4B is still the fully open option. On Dolai, FLUX.3 Klein costs 5 credits per image at 1K, 19 at 2K and 76 at 4K.
Running FLUX 3 Klein locally
The weights are on Hugging Face (black-forest-labs/flux-3-image-klein, gated behind the license) and ComfyUI supports them natively from version 0.41.0 with four official templates. The generator is about 11 GB in BF16 and 5.6 GB in FP8, and the INT8 build runs on 8 GB RTX cards. Budget extra memory for the 9B prompt expander, or run it separately: without it, short prompts give noticeably weaker images.
No GPU, or no room for the expander? The box at the top of this page runs FLUX 3 Image Klein with expansion in the cloud. Create with FLUX 3 Klein
From a FLUX 3 Klein image to a video
FLUX 3 Image Klein makes stills. To make one move, switch the box above to Video, attach the image as the first frame and describe the motion. Seedance 2.5 keeps the layout, lettering and colours of the still and adds camera movement and sound.
Posters, product shots and infographics make good first frames: the design is already right, so the video only has to animate it.

FLUX 3 Image Klein FAQ
What is FLUX 3 Image Klein?
FLUX 3 Image Klein (also written FLUX.3 Klein) is an open-weight image model from Black Forest Labs, released on October 15, 2026. A single 5.6B model handles text to image, editing and up to ten reference images, with optional layout boxes and output up to 4K.
Can I use FLUX 3 Klein online for free?
Yes. The box at the top of this page runs it in the cloud with prompt expansion on. An image costs 5 credits at 1K, 19 at 2K and 76 at 4K, and new accounts get 100 free credits to start.
Can I use FLUX 3 Klein commercially?
Only within its license. The weights come under the FLUX Kommunity License: individuals and companies with less than US$5 million in annual revenue may use them commercially for free. Larger companies need a separate self-hosting license from Black Forest Labs or must use a paid API. Under any license, outputs may not be used to train competing image models.
Is FLUX 3 Klein open source?
It is open weight, not open source in the strict sense: anyone can download it from Hugging Face after accepting the FLUX Kommunity License, but the license limits free commercial use to those under US$5 million in annual revenue. FLUX.2 [klein] 4B remains the Apache 2.0 option.
What is the difference between FLUX 3 Klein and FLUX.2 Klein?
FLUX 3 Image Klein is one 5.6B model that adds a built-in prompt expander, up to ten reference images, layout boxes and native 4K, and scores higher in BFL’s tests. FLUX.2 [klein] came in 4B and 9B sizes, draws in 4 steps, and its 4B version has the looser Apache 2.0 license.
Why does FLUX 3 Klein need a prompt upsampler?
It was trained on long, detailed captions, so a short prompt on its own gives weaker images. The upsampler rewrites your line into such a caption before the model draws. Dolai does this for every prompt, so you can write as little or as much as you like.
How much VRAM does FLUX 3 Klein need?
The INT8 build runs on 8 GB RTX cards, and the FP8 generator weights are about 5.6 GB. The 9B prompt expander needs memory of its own, so a full local setup with expansion asks for more than 8 GB unless you run the expander separately.
Can FLUX 3 Klein render text?
Yes, headlines and labels come out well, as the poster and packaging examples show. Very small print can still be misspelled or warped, so keep important text large and put it in quotes.
Can I edit images with FLUX 3 Klein on Dolai?
Not yet. The model itself edits photos and combines up to ten references, as the before-and-after examples show, but Dolai’s box runs it as text to image for now. Editing with your own images is coming to the studio.
Is Dolai made by Black Forest Labs?
No. Dolai is an independent AI studio that runs FLUX 3 Image Klein through a hosted API, alongside image and video models from Google, OpenAI, ByteDance, Krea AI and others. FLUX 3 Image Klein is developed and released by Black Forest Labs.
